One of the objectives important to AMLC membership is the encouragement of student education and research. Beginning at our 2003 31st Scientific Meeting in Trinidad, therefore, The AMLC Executive Board instituted two new student awards, both named in honor of individuals who have given of themselves over the years to nurture the AMLC.

The first is the Bert and Lucy Williams Student Achievement Award for the best verbal paper presentation at our scientific meeting. The award is represented by an Award Certificate and a cash prize of US $500.

The second is the Ivan Goodbody Student Achievement Award for the best poster presentation at our scientific meeting. This award is also represented by an Award Certificate, and a cash prize of US $250.
